Inheritance and variability of kinetic gene expression parameters in microbial cells

Gene expression is among the fundamental processes regulating cell life. Modern experimental technologies enable monitoring of gene expression dynamics in individual cells and quantification of its variability across genetically identical individuals. In this talk, based on a Mixed-Effects modelling approach, I will discuss recent developments in the modelling and inference of gene expression variability from single-cell time-course gene expression data. In particular, I will describe a new method for the study of inheritance and variability of kinetic gene expression parameters along cell generations, and its application to single-cell yeast osmotic shock response data from a population of dividing cells.
