On the structure of non-equilibrium steady states for models of KMP type
We discuss a class of models of mass transport including the KMP (Kipnis, Marchioro, Presutti) model [1]. When coupled to reservoirs, such systems converge to a unique stationary measure, which is then called the non-equilibrium steady state (NESS).
We show that the NESS can be written as a mixture of (inhomogeneous) product measures. This representation has useful applications for large deviations and fluctuations of the density profile.
We show how this representation of the NESS follows naturally from intertwining relations, thereby extending earlier results on the hidden temperature model in the KMP model [2].
